October, 2023 - Prof. Ryan Lively gave departmental seminars at the University of Kentucky and the University of Arkansas. The title of the talk was “Membrane technologies are key enablers of the energy transition”.

October, 2023 - Prof. Chris Jones delivered several departmental seminars at the University of Oklahoma and Michigan State University. He also delivered the ICI Lectures in the Department of Chemical & Materials Engineering at the University of Alberta. His presentations focused on direct air capture of CO2.

September, 2023 - Prof. Chris Jones and his research group were awarded the 2023 AIChE Institute Award in Industrial Gases, in recognition of their work on direct air capture of CO2. 

September, 2023 - Prof. David Sholl has been appointed to lead an Energy Earthshot Research Center (EERC) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, focused on developing sustainable industrial chemical processes with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Check out details here. Congratulations!

September, 2023 - Prof. Krista Walton has been named associate vice president for Research Operations and Infrastructure for Georgia Tech. September, 2023 - Prof. Ryan Lively gave a seminar at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The title of the talk was "Direct air capture: A challenge of unprecedented scale."

August, 2023 - Prof. Christopher Jones was selected as the recipient of the 2023 Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Check out details here.

August, 2023 - Porous liquids, an emerging liquid-phase material for carbon capture, were featured for the first time in a stand-alone international symposium at the ACS Fall Meeting held in San Francisco, CA. Organized by Jessica M. Rimsza and Tina M. Nenoff, both from Sandia National Laboratories, the symposium titled “The Structure, Properties, and Applications of Porous Liquids” featured 10+ talks over two days on the fundamental properties and recent applications of these intriguing systems.

July, 2023 - Prof. Janani Sampath from the University of Florida received the Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Award. Congratulations!

July, 2023 -  Prof. Ryan Lively gave a series of lectures in Taiwan and Japan recently, including a seminar at the National Taiwan University, a plenary at the annual meeting of the Taiwanese Filtration and Separation Society, and a keynote at the 2023 International Congress on Membranes and Membrane Processes in Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan.

July, 2023 - The Department of Energy's Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) has released its first Multi-Year Program Plan. Prof. David Sholl was the lead author for this document, which defines OCED's strategy for its existing portfolio of more than $25 billion in clean energy demonstration projects and for developing future additions to this portfolio.

July, 2023 - Prof. Chris Jones was selected as the recipient of the 2023 Institute Award for Excellence in Industrial Gases Technology from AIChE. He will receive the award at the 2023 AIChE Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Congratulations!

April, 2023 - Hyun June Moon, graduate student from the Jones Group at Georgia Tech got the Best Paper Award at the EFRC Annual All-Hands Meeting held in Atlanta. Matthew Christian, a postdoctoral researcher from the Rimsza Group at Sandia National Labs got the runner-up award. Congratulations Hyun June and Matt!

January, 2023 - Prof. Christopher Jones from Georgia Tech was interviewed for the NTNU Energy Transition Podcast to introduce the concept of DAC, or direct air capture of CO2. This is the first of a four part series on DAC as a climate change mitigation technology. Listen to the podcast here.

December, 2022 - Matthew Christian and Jessica Rimsza from Sandia National Laboratories received a National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center (NERSC) allocation to perform molecular scale calculations supporting UNCAGE-ME. The award includes computing time for collaborators from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Lehigh University and University of Alabama. Congratulations Matthew and Jessica!
